If you are using a 50/50 lye water master batched solution:

• Sea Salt: 25 grams (7% of 350 grams total batch size for extra hardness and bubbles)

Melt your oils and incorporate the soap scraps directly into them. Blend the mixture thoroughly, allowing the scraps to blend evenly with the new oils. Once well blended, add your desired colorant. Once satisfied with the color, add the lye and fragrance. If you want to increase the soap’s hardness and bubbles, you can also add sea salt at this stage.

Step 4: Add Colorants and Clays

To give your rebatch soap a fresh look, you can add colorants, clays, or other beneficial ingredients at this stage. Mix them thoroughly to ensure even distribution.

• Clays: Kaolin or bentonite clay can add smoothness and enhance the skin benefits of your soap.

Step 5: Pour into Molds and Cure

After thoroughly mixing, pour the soap batter into molds. Because this is a no-heat method, there’s no need to cook the soap scraps down, which helps preserve their original properties. Smooth the top of the soap, and let it set in the mold for 24-48 hours before unmolding.

Step 6: Cut and Cure the Soap

Green Tea Cold Process Soap Instructions

First up, we'll need to prepare the green tea-infused oil. This involves gently heating olive oil with green tea leaves for several hours, then straining it. It's a waiting game, but trust me, it's worth it!

Next, we'll prepare the lye solution by brewing a strong green tea, letting it cool, and mixing it carefully with the lye. Safety first, folks! Once that's done, we'll set it aside to cool to around 100-110°F.

While our lye solution cools, we can melt the coconut oil and shea butter. Once they're all nice and melty, we can add the infused olive oil, castor oil, and rice oil and let the oil mixture cool so it is within 10 degrees or less than the lye solution.

Now comes the exciting part – combining the lye and oils! BUT First gear up, goggles, long sleeves, and 20 minutes free of distractions (kids and pets included).

Slowly pour the lye solution into the oils, blending like there's no tomorrow with a stick blender until we reach a trace. Add your Green Tea Extract for an extra skin-loving boost.

But wait, we're still going! We've got to mix the matcha green tea powder with a small amount of oil to form a slurry, then add it to the soap batter. If you're feeling fancy, add some green tea/ mint leaf and peppermint essential oil for that extra oomph.

After all that mixing, it's time to pour the soap batter into molds and sprinkle some dried green tea/mint leaf on top for that Instagram-worthy finish. Now, wait… patience is a virtue, my friend!

Once the soap has set for 24-48 hours, it's time to unmold and cut it into bars. Then comes the hard part – waiting 4-6 weeks for the bars to cure. Trust me, it'll be worth it in the end!

1. To find the amount of oil, multiply the total volume (the amount your soap mold holds) by 70% to get the total oils in the batch.

2. If you do not know how much soap your mold holds, a simple hack is to fill the soap mold with water, weigh the amount of water your mold holds in GRAMS, and use that as a rough estimate.

3. The lye-to-water ratio I use is 1.8:1.

4. I like to add 5% Sea Salt (based on the amount of oil) to my soap recipes to boost the hardiness & lather.
